Newlyweds Turn to Design-First Appliances to Create Stylish, Comfortable Homes

As newly married couples begin setting up their first homes this wedding season, a clear shift is emerging in the way appliances are chosen. According to Kamal Pandit, Head of Design at the Appliances Business of Godrej Enterprises Group, aesthetics are now just as important as performance, with couples seeking appliances that blend seamlessly into their home décor.

Pandit explained that with open kitchens and connected living spaces becoming the norm, appliances now play a pivotal role in shaping a home’s visual identity. From refrigerators to air conditioners, products are increasingly being selected for their finishes, colour palettes and ability to harmonise with furniture and wall tones.

Nature-inspired designs—especially wood-finish ACs and refrigerators—are rising in popularity, offering a warm, earthy look that pairs well with modern interiors. On the premium end, metallic shades, glass fronts, and soft pastels are gaining momentum as couples look for appliances that serve as subtle design statements.

Minimalism remains a favourite among young homeowners, with sleek silhouettes, clean lines and discreet handles helping appliances blend effortlessly into contemporary spaces.

Alongside style, couples are also prioritising smart features and AI-enabled technologies that enhance comfort, convenience and energy efficiency.

Pandit noted that well-designed appliances can transform everyday living into a shared, meaningful experience. “Good design isn’t just seen—it’s felt in every corner of a home,” he said, highlighting how the right appliances help newlyweds build spaces that feel modern, harmonious and reflective of their shared personality.
