Nine Perfect Strangers, the web series based on The New York Times bestselling book of the same name written by Australian author Liane Moriarty, is bringing together Nicole Kidman and Melissa McCarthy for the very first time. The series is developed by creator David E. Kelley, actor Nicole Kidman, and author of the source material Liane Moriarty, which was also the team behind another hit series, Big Little Lies. In the series, Kidman’s character, who is named Masha Dmitrichenko, runs a health and wellness retreat center called ‘Mind and Body Total Transformation Retreat’ which claims to help people who are stressed out of their minds.
The drama series, which is filmed on location in Australia, is set at a boutique health-and-wellness resort that promises healing and transformation. According to the official synopsis, the series focuses on the story of nine stressed-out city dwellers who are looking for a better way of living as compared to their existing urban lifestyles. Kidman, who plays the role of resort director Masha, is on a mission to reinvigorate their tired minds and bodies. However, the nine strangers have no idea what is about to hit them.
The cast includes an ensemble cast – Luke Evans, Tiffany Boone, Bobby Cannavale, Melvin Gregg, Regina Hall, Manny Jacinto, Asher Keddie, Michael Shannon, Grace Van Patten, and Samara Weaving who will be acting alongside Nicole Kidman and Melissa McCarthy. Both Kidman and McCarthy serve as executive producers of the show along with the author of the original, Liane Moriarty. The show is co-written by David E. Kelley and John-Henry Butterworth and is directed by Jonathan Levine. The first three episodes of the series stream on Amazon Prime Video on August 20, with following episodes being added over the course of the next five weeks
