NIXI announces personalized e-mail services for .IN users on its 18th foundation day

On June 19, the National Internet Exchange of India (NIXI) announced that it will provide personalized e-mail services on demand with 10 GB space to .IN users. To receive a free personalized e-mail, the user may approach www.registry.in.

During the celebrations of NIXI’s 18th Foundation Day, the Secretary of Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) Ajay Prakash Sawhney said, “This is perhaps the most unique offering being made by an CCTLD, in an attempt to take the .IN domain to a much larger proportion.”

The first Internet Exchange of India focuses on facilitating the peering of internet service providers (ISPs) among themselves for the purpose of routing the domestic tariff within the nation rather than taking it all the way to the US or simply abroad, hence, exceeding its quality of service and reduced bandwidth charges of ISPs by saving international currency on international bandwidth.

NIXI, the .IN registry, has been managing the country’s code top-level domain (ccTLD) – .IN as well as the National Internet Registry (NIR) delegating Internet Protocol addresses (IPv4 and IPv6) along with Autonomous System numbers to the Indian Affiliates.

According to NIXI, India is the third largest Asian country in the country-centric and top level domain growth with more than 2.7 million registrations of .in domain.

The secretary added that the country is moving towards becoming a digital economy. The government’s focus will be to see how the users are able to access more to government services digitally.

He emphasized on the need of making students learn digital skills for which the MeitY has launched Future Prime Skills. It has partnered with industries and a large number of high quality free digital courses are available.
