No option but to make businesses green says Mukesh Ambani

All over the world the need for sustainable energy is increasing and business conglomerates are hopping onto the green train. Mukesh Ambani, Asia’s richest man said at the Qatar Economic Forum on Monday that businesses have no other option and have to go green. He also mentioned that all units of Reliance Industries will have to adapt to the change as the company progresses in the direction of net-zero.

This move towards being more green and sustainable might affect a few of Reliance’s businesses, to which Ambani said “it means transforming our businesses and integrating that with the future,” and mentioned no further details.

The change to being a greener, cleaner version won’t be an easy one for the company. For the year ended in March, 60% of the revenue generated by the company was from its hydrocarbon-fuelled energy operations.

In addition to that, at the Qatar Economic Forum Ambani pushed for bridging the digital divide that exists among nations as well as within nations and said that connectivity and communications are now the fundamental rights of every person in every country.

Lastly, he also mentioned that Indians will not forget Qatar’s friendship during this COVID 19 crisis when it went above and beyond commerce and utilized all its passenger aircraft to get medicine and supplies to India.
