No vaccination for poorer countries till 2024, says Board of Gavi

Gavi an alliance of WHO’s Covax scheme has stated that it sees bleak hope that world’s poorer countries will get immunization until as late as 2024. The Covax scheme faces number challenges including India’s Serum Institute decision that they will prioritize Indian supply over anything.

To vaccinate around 20% people of poor country by 2021, Covax requires $4.9 bn in addition to $2.1bn it has raised. The scheme covers people with high risk in around 91 countries, majorly Africa, Asia and Latin America.
