Andy Murray secured his second straight grass-court victory on the ATP Challenger Tour on Sunday, boosting his preparations for his home Grand Slam tournament.
Following his victory at Surbiton last week, the former world number one defeated Frenchman Arthur Cazaux 6-4, 6-4 in the final of the Nottingham Open.
Murray, 36, withdrew from the French Open to focus on Wimbledon and he has already won 10 straight matches on grass on the 2nd-tier Challenger tour. On Monday, he is expected to rise to No. 38 in the rankings, his highest position since recovering from two hip surgery in 2018 and 2019.
If he puts on another great performance at Queen’s Club the following week, where players like Carlos Alcaraz, Matteo Berrettini and Holger Rune will also be competing, he will have a chance to get seeded in the Wimbledon draw.
Murray became the 1st British man to win Wimbledon since Fred Perry in 1936 in 2013 and he won a 2nd title in 2016, but he has not made it past the 3rd round since recovering from hip surgery.
Wimbledon begins on July 3 this year.
