Novak Djokovic, at the end of his four-hour-11-minute final on Sunday, walked up to the supporter who was seated at the front row area and handed over his racket. The little fan then jumps in excitement and utter disbelief. The little boy’s shocked and exuberant reaction was caught on camera and is now trending the internet and winning hearts online.
The viral video shows that Djokovic walked up to the boy in the front row area and handed his winning racket. In a press meet, Novak explained the gesture and said that it was his joy of gratitude for the boy who was supporting him throughout the match. The 19 time Grand Slam Champion said, ” The boy was encouraging me in the entire match. He was giving me tactics. He was like ‘Hold your serve, get an easy first ball, then dictate, go to his backhand’ He was coaching me literally.”
Many congratulated the boy for his luck of getting the winning racket from his idol. On the other hand, others praised Djokovic for his kind gesture. As Novak defeated Stefanos by 6-7(6), 2-6, 6-3,6-2, 6-4, and became the only player to win each of the four Grand Slams at least twice. He is just a major tournament victory away from levelling with Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal for the most men’s Grand Slam singles titles.
