India’s largest energy conglomerate, National Thermal Power Corporation Limited (NTPC) recorded a growth in gross cumulative generation of 222.4 billion units in the period of April to December, the company said in statement released on Tuesday. The company recorded its highest-ever daily gross electricity generation of 1,009 million units on 18 January.
The escalate in power generation is assumed as an important indicator of India’s economic recovery caused by the unsettling circumstances by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Minister of New and Renewable Energy, R.K.Singh had previously said that demand of electricity in India has risen post the pandemic compared to the year before that.
The NTPC has plans to permeate ₹1 trillion between 2019 and 2024 to become a 130GW power producer by 2032.
