On Wednesday, O’ Romeo reported a decline in business, collecting around Rs. 3 crore nett. The drop from Monday is approximately 30-35 percent, which is on the sharper side of things, since it is generally predicted to be around 20%. The absolute figure is still more than one would expect from a Rs. 8 crore Sunday, but this is due to the BOGO deal, which keeps the business aloft.
The six-day total for the Shahid Kapoor and Tripti Dimri starrer is slightly less than Rs. 40 crore nett. The first week is expected to generate Rs. 42 crore nett. Overseas performance has been USD 1.75 million (Rs. 16 crore) thus far, resulting in a worldwide box office gross of Rs. 64 crore.
After the way the picture performed in its first weekend, it appeared that attaining Rs. 50 crore nett would be challenging, if not impossible. However, with the backing of the BOGO offer and some external push, the picture is now set to reach that milestone, as it is now worth over Rs. 40 crore. Not that it changes anything about the larger picture.
It is a costly picture for its face value, requiring at least double the amount of Rs. 50 crore. The unexpected holds on Monday and Tuesday gave the impression that it might go closer to that. That option has become increasingly remote following Wednesday’s dip.
