In the latest film, Aureliano Babilonia is seen reading from the fabled diary of Melquiades. Later, the audience is taken to Macondo, where they see Colonel Aureliano Buendía facing execution while recalling the day his father brought him to discover ice.
2019 saw the announcement that Netflix had acquired the rights to the book, which had never before been adapted for the big screen. The writers of the series were Albatrós González, José Rivera, Natalia Santa, Camila Brugés, and María Camila Arias. The most brilliant artists from Colombia and Latin America are bringing their series to life, according to Netflix, which calls it “one of the most ambitious projects in Latin America to date.”
