Over 95 Tenneco employees take part in plogging drive in Chakan

Tenneco Clean Air India Limited organised a plogging drive near Mahadev Temple, Nighoje, Chakan, to support community cleanliness and environmental awareness initiatives.

The temple area, being a high-traffic public location, often sees dry waste accumulation. The clean-up drive was undertaken to improve the surroundings and promote responsible waste disposal practices.

Nearly 95 employees from the company’s Chakan plant participated in the activity. Volunteers were briefed on safety measures, waste segregation and reducing plastic usage, and were encouraged to carry reusable water bottles. Volunteer kits containing waste collection bags and brooms were distributed to participants.

Commenting on the initiative, Mr. Arvind Chandra, whole-time Director and CEO, Tenneco India, said:
“In a rapidly growing industrial region like Chakan, open dumping and unmanaged waste have real impacts on roads, local health, and the daily life of residents and workers. Through this plogging drive, Tenneco Clean Air India is turning awareness into action by encouraging responsible waste disposal and recycling, while actively involving our employees in building cleaner, greener communities. This reflects how we approach sustainability, not just in our operations, but in the communities, we are part of.”

During the drive, volunteers collected 41 waste bags weighing 280.7 kg, along with an additional 2 bags weighing 9.5 kg generated during the activity. In total, 43 bags weighing 290.2 kg were segregated into paper and plastic and handed over for appropriate disposal and recycling.
