The military in Myanmar cut off internet throughout the country and increased troops to handle the anti-coup protests, on Monday, but that didn’t stop the protestors for coming out into the streets once more.
The protests had come into effect because the military (or junta) in Myanmar detained elected leader Aung Sang Suu Kyi and many other officials. More troops were seen in Yangon which was previously swarmed by the protestors. Before the internet blackout, livestream videos and images were posted on social media in which more tanks and military troops entering places in Myanmar were shown. Many technology and engineering students, who depend on the internet for their studies, gathered in large numbers in the northern district of Yangon.
UN Secretary General, referring to the clampdown by the junta said to “ensure the right of peaceful assembly is fully respected and demonstrators are not subjected to reprisals.”
