The previous Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz government was blamed for the “complications” of the Kulbhushan Jadhav case, as said by the Pakistan Foreign minister, Shah Mahmood Qureshi.
Qureshi has also claimed that India was trying to rake Pakistan again to the International Court Of Justice for not implementing it’s verdict.
Kulbhushan Jadhav, the 51-year-old retired Indian Navy officer, was arrested in March 2016 in Balochistan and was sentenced to death by the Pakistani military court on the charges of espionage and terrorism in April 2017.
However, India had rejected the charges levelled against Jadhav and mentioned that he was kidnapped by the Pakistani operatives from the Iranian port of Chabahar, where he was running a business.
Jadhav’s execution was suspended by the ICJ in 2018.
The Foreign Minister on Sunday said that Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz had complicated the case of Kulbhushan Jadhav.
The Hague-based ICJ ruled in July 2019 that Pakistan must undertake an “effective review and reconsideration” of the conviction and sentence of Jadhav.
Pakistan was also mentioned by the ICJ to grant consular access to India without a further delay.
On Thursday, the Pakistan’s Parliament rushed through a bill that would help Kulbhushan Jadhav to appeal against the death sentence given to him by a military court amid the protests by the opposition.
The opposition accused the Pakistani government of violating the parliamentary principles.
The bill was also aimed to allow Jadhav to have consular access in line with the ICJ verdict.
The law minister Farogh Naseem added that the ICJ had asked Pakistan to enact legislation to provide the right of appeal to Jadhav.
Naseem also mentioned, “If the bill weren’t passed, then India could initiate disrespectful proceedings against Pakistan.”
Qureshi in the relation of people who were against the relief being provided to Jadhav by the passing of the bill said that the opposition were speaking the language of India, and how India wants Pakistan to not abide by the ICJ, so did the opposition.
