Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan wins the trust vote in Pakistan National Assembly on Saturday, March 6. He secured 178 votes of the 372 members in the Assembly.
He secured 6 more votes than the majority of 172 votes required to win. The session was conducted under the ordinance of President Arif Alvi.
The voting took place without Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) as the alliance of 11 parties decided to boycott the session. Imran Khan voluntarily suggested that the trust vote be held after finance minister Abdul Hafeez Shaikh was defeated in the closely-fought Senate election on Wednesday.
Imran Khan chaired a meeting of parliamentary parties on March 6 at the Prime Minister House (PMH) for all Members of the National Assembly (MNAs) of the ruling alliance were asked to vote for the prime minister otherwise they can be disqualified.
