Indian music composer Palash Muchhal and cricketer Smriti Mandhana have officially confirmed that their wedding has been called off. The two issued separate statements on Sunday, putting an end to weeks of speculation surrounding their relationship and the postponed ceremony.
Palash and Smriti were earlier set to marry on November 24, but the wedding was postponed after Smriti’s father was hospitalised due to sudden health complications. A day later, Palash too was admitted to the hospital, adding to the uncertainty. Soon after, several unverified rumours including claims of infidelity amd cheating began circulating online, causing further distress to both families.
Addressing the situation, Palash wrote on Instagram that he has decided to “move on” and step away from the relationship. He expressed disappointment over the ease with which people believed baseless allegations. “It’s the most difficult phase of my life, and I will deal with it gracefully,” he wrote, urging society to stop judging individuals based on unverified gossip.
Smriti also shared a note, stating that she prefers to keep her personal life private but felt the need to clarify that the wedding is indeed cancelled. She requested everyone to respect the privacy of both families, adding that she wishes to “close this matter” and move forward. The cricketer reaffirmed her commitment to representing India and keeping her focus on her career.
Following their statements, the two unfollowed each other on Instagram. While Smriti has removed all engagement and proposal posts, Palash still retains the video of his proposal at DY Patil Stadium the venue where India lifted the Women’s World Cup 2025 trophy.
