The postponement of cricketer Smriti Mandhana and music composer Palash Muchhal’s wedding has triggered a storm of speculation online, with unverified claims spreading rapidly across social media. The couple, who were set to marry on November 23, delayed their ceremony due to a sudden health emergency involving Smriti’s father. However, the situation soon escalated after allegations about Palash began circulating.
The chatter intensified when an Instagram user, identified as Mary D’Costa, posted screenshots on Reddit claiming they were private conversations with Palash. Though the user’s account was deactivated shortly after, the screenshots continued to spread, fuelling talk of Palash allegedly cheating on Smriti. The viral posts have since added layers of controversy to an already sensitive moment for both families.
In the middle of the rising rumours, Palash’s cousin Neeti Tak stepped forward to defend him. Taking to Instagram Stories, she urged people not to jump to conclusions, especially when the composer himself is currently hospitalised in Mumbai. “Palash is going through a critical condition today. You all should not judge him without knowing the truth,” she wrote, stressing that technology can mislead and requesting prayers instead of blame.
Earlier, Palash’s sister Palak had confirmed the wedding postponement, requesting privacy for both families. She explained that Smriti’s father, Shrinivas Mandhana, had been rushed to a hospital in Sangli after experiencing heart attack-like symptoms on the wedding day. With both families dealing with personal and health-related challenges, they have appealed for patience and respect as they navigate this difficult period.
