Pamela Anderson has shared her perspective on awards, emphasizing the importance of focusing on the work rather than the accolades. After The Last Showgirl was snubbed for an Oscar nomination, the actress reflected on her journey during a conversation with Elle.com. Although her film wasn’t nominated for an Academy Award, Anderson expressed gratitude for being recognized at the SAG Awards.
The announcement, made by Bowen Yang and Rachel Sennot, revealed that The Last Showgirl was left out of the running, along with other notable films, including Angelina Jolie’s Maria. Despite this, Anderson remained upbeat, saying, “Oh my gosh, it’s not something I ever expected,” and adding, “Doing the work is the win. That’s what I like to do… it’s nice to be recognized, and it’s all a bonus.”
Anderson also highlighted the hard work put into promoting the film, stating that the SAG nomination, which is voted on by peers, was particularly meaningful. “I’m happy for the SAG nomination; that’s really cool. This has been a long road promoting this film,” she said.
In The Last Showgirl, Anderson portrays Shelly, a seasoned Las Vegas showgirl whose world is turned upside down when the show she’s been a part of for 30 years suddenly closes. The film also stars Jamie Lee Curtis, Brenda Song, Dave Bautista, and Kiernan Shipka. Despite the Oscar snub, Anderson is proud of the film’s recognition and continues to focus on the positive aspects of the experience.
The film is available in select theaters.
