On Thursday, at least four private schools in Chennai got a bomb threat through email, the police stated. Parents rushed to pick up their kids from schools following the incident.
The emails were allegedly received in schools around the Greater Chennai Police (GCP) limits, according to the Police. It further stated that Bomb Detection and Disposal Squads (BDDS) were despatched.

“GCP/BDDS teams have been sent for Anti-Sabotage Checks in these educational institutions and action is being taken to identify the culprit who sent these e-mails,” the police wrote on X. It added, “Public are requested not to panic.”
According to police sources, the cybercrime unit is investigating to find out the IP address from which the email was sent and the accused will be caught soon.
