Paresh Rawal confirms Hera Pheri 3 shoot to begin next year; says wounds have healed

Paresh Rawal has confirmed that Hera Pheri 3 will go on floors in February-March next year, marking his reunion with Akshay Kumar and Suniel Shetty after earlier financial hurdles delayed the project.

Fans of the iconic Hera Pheri franchise can finally rejoice as Paresh Rawal has confirmed that the much-awaited third installment will begin filming in February-March next year. The actor, who plays the beloved Baburao Ganpatrao Apte, revealed that all issues surrounding his earlier exit from the film have now been resolved.

Speaking to News18 Showsha, Paresh shared that the project is back on track. His sudden departure last year had shocked fans as well as Akshay Kumar, who had acquired the rights to the franchise. The move reportedly caused financial setbacks for the production and even led Akshay to consider legal action. Rawal explained that he had valid reasons for stepping away and mentioned that the signing amount was returned with interest.

Despite the controversy, Paresh clarified that his bond with director Priyadarshan remains strong. He said their relationship had only solidified over time, adding, “Wounds have healed, and our relationship is now very transparent.” The duo has already worked together on multiple films, and Hera Pheri 3 will mark their 15th collaboration. Rawal recently wrapped up filming Priyadarshan’s Bollywood comeback, Bhoot Bangla.

Reflecting on the franchise, Rawal admitted that Phir Hera Pheri suffered due to overconfidence. He observed that characters like those in Hera Pheri come rarely and should be handled delicately. While dubbing for the sequel, he realised “a mistake had been made” and believed the sanctity of the premise should not have been compromised.

Although once open to the idea of a Baburao spin-off, Rawal now seems focused on preserving the legacy of the franchise. With his return confirmed, the original trio of Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty, and Paresh Rawal is finally ready to reunite on screen.
