The much-awaited sequel to the 2006 comedy Bhagam Bhag has already stirred conversation, even before going on floors. Veteran actor Paresh Rawal has now confirmed that Manoj Bajpayee has joined Bhagam Bhag 2, replacing Govinda in the new instalment.
In a recent interaction with Bollywood Hungama, Rawal acknowledged the casting change and shared that he does not know why Govinda is no longer part of the sequel. “I have genuinely no idea. However, we’ll miss Govinda,” he said, addressing the speculation around the development.
The original film featured the popular comic pairing of Akshay Kumar and Govinda, whose timing and chemistry became one of the highlights of the Priyadarshan directorial. Reacting to the new pairing of Akshay Kumar and Manoj Bajpayee, Rawal said it would bring a “different and unique combination” to the screen.
Adding to the buzz, Rawal revealed that he will be seen in a double role in Bhagam Bhag 2, something he expressed excitement about.Released in 2006, Bhagam Bhag followed a theatre troupe that finds itself tangled in unexpected crimes during an overseas trip. With mistaken identities and slapstick humour, the film earned cult status over the years.
Meanwhile, many fans have taken to social media to express disappointment over Govinda’s exit, with some urging the makers to reconsider the decision.
