Parineeti Chopra has no regrets about stepping away from Animal, which went on to become a massive box-office hit starring Ranbir Kapoor and Rashmika Mandanna. Speaking on Aap Ki Adalat alongside her husband, Raghav Chaddha, the actress explained her decision to opt for Imtiaz Ali’s Amar Singh Chamkila instead.
“To be honest, I think a higher power had something better for me. I was almost set to do Animal, but on the same dates, I was offered Chamkila. It was an irresistible opportunity,” Parineeti shared with Rajat Sharma. Highlighting her role in the biographical drama, she added, “Singing songs composed by AR Rahman and portraying such a meaningful character was a dream. The love and recognition I received for Chamkila made it worth it. I’m happy.”
Her husband, Raghav Chaddha, also revealed how the film played a pivotal role in their relationship. “When she returned to India for the shoot, we met frequently, and our visits to Gurudwara Chamkaur Sahib strengthened our bond,” he said.
Directed by Imtiaz Ali, Amar Singh Chamkila tells the story of the iconic musician Amar Singh Chamkila and his tragic assassination. Parineeti portrayed his wife, Amarjot, opposite Diljit Dosanjh, earning critical acclaim. The film became one of Netflix India’s most-watched titles.Meanwhile, Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Animal emerged as a global blockbuster, grossing ₹900 crore at the box office, with Rashmika Mandanna stepping into the role originally envisioned for Parineeti.
