Parmeet Sethi calls Shah Rukh Khan’s Raj the “real villain” of DDLJ; fans can’t stop debating his point

Parmeet Sethi’s cheeky remark about Shah Rukh Khan’s iconic DDLJ character Raj being the “real villain” has sparked an unexpected online debate, with fans revisiting the beloved classic through a new lens.

Nearly three decades after its release, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (DDLJ) continues to inspire conversations but this time, it’s not about love. Actor Parmeet Sethi, who played Kuljeet Singh, the fiancé of Kajol’s character Simran, has surprised fans by suggesting that Shah Rukh Khan’s charming Raj may actually be the film’s true villain.

In a candid interview, Parmeet playfully said, “Raj took my fiancée. Kuljeet didn’t do anything wrong. Shah Rukh’s character comes and takes away my fiancée I wasn’t the one chasing someone else’s love.” His humorous take on the classic storyline has now become the talk of social media.

Fans quickly joined the fun, digging up other instances where Shah Rukh’s on-screen charm led to similar situations. “He did the same in Pardes and Dil To Pagal Hai,” one fan wrote. Another joked, “Don’t forget Kuch Kuch Hota Hai  poor Salman Khan!” Some even mentioned Veer-Zaara, pointing out that Preity Zinta’s character was already engaged to Manoj Bajpayee in that film.

Released in 1995, DDLJ remains one of Bollywood’s most loved romances. Directed by Aditya Chopra, it told the story of Raj and Simran, two young Indians who fall in love against all odds. But with Parmeet’s witty perspective, fans are now watching the timeless love story with a fresh and slightly mischievous twist.
