Paul Anderson joins WWII action film to be directed by Jalmari Helander

English actor Paul Anderson, who is best known for his role as Arthur Shelby Jr in the hit television show Peaky Blinders, is all set to star in an action movie based on the second World War. The movie, which is entitled Immortal, will be the third feature film to be directed by Finnish director and screenwriter Jalmari Helander. The movie will be beginning its schedule in Lapland from this September.

Immortal, which is set in the year 1945, tells the tale of an ex-soldier Aatami, which will be played by director Helander’s long-time collaborator Jorma Tommila, who discovers some gold hidden in the deep wilderness of Lapland. The story goes on to show how Aatami attempts to take his loot into the city and faces a squadron of Nazi soldiers led by a brutal SS officer (who will be played by Anderson) who get in his way and a battle for the gold ensues between the lone soldier Aatami and the Nazis.

The film is being produced by Petri Jokiranta, who had also produced director Helander’s two previous feature films, through his production house Subzero Film Entertainment. The film will also have Mike Goodridge, Gregory Ouanhon, and Antonio Salas serving as executive producers. The worldwide distribution rights of the movie have been acquired by Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions (SPWA), whereas the distribution rights for Nordic countries have been taken by Nordisk Films. The film which will be produced in English with some parts being in Finnish is supported by the Finnish Film Foundation, Business Finland – Audiovisual Production Incentive, and MTV Cmore.
