Paul Feig has spoken out in support of Blake Lively amid her ongoing legal battle

The much-awaited sequel to A Simple Favor is finally set to premiere at the South by Southwest (SXSW) festival in Austin, Texas, on March 7. Titled Another Simple Favor, the film brings back Blake Lively, Anna Kendrick, and Henry Golding for more suspense, humor, and unexpected twists.

The first movie, which hit theaters in 2018, was a major success and remains Blake Lively’s highest-grossing film to date. After its SXSW premiere, Another Simple Favor will be available for streaming on Prime Video starting May 1.

Director Paul Feig recently addressed some speculation about the film’s editing process. A social media user questioned if the released version of the movie was Feig’s cut or Blake Lively’s. Feig responded on Instagram, stating, “It’s my cut. There is no other cut. Blake has been nothing but supportive and a dream to work with. She is the best and an amazing collaborator, and I’m her biggest fan.”

This statement comes amid ongoing rumors about Lively’s involvement in the final cut of another upcoming film, It Ends With Us, directed by Justin Baldoni. Lively is currently embroiled in a legal battle with Baldoni and the producers of It Ends With Us. She filed a lawsuit on December 21, alleging sexual harassment and a retaliatory smear campaign. Baldoni has denied these claims and countersued on January 16 for $400 million in damages, targeting Lively, her husband Ryan Reynolds, and their publicist Leslie Sloane. Lively’s legal team has dismissed Baldoni’s countersuit as “desperate and meritless,” and both cases are set to go to trial in March 2026.

Throughout this tumultuous period, Feig has continued to express his support for Lively. In December, he shared an article about her lawsuit on X (formerly Twitter), writing, “I’ve now made two movies with Blake, and all I can say is she’s one of the most professional, creative, collaborative, talented, and kind people I’ve ever worked with. She truly did not deserve any of this smear campaign against her.”

Feig also responded to rumors that Another Simple Favor had been delayed, calling them “total BS.” He emphasized that the movie was finished and ready for release, urging fans not to believe everything they read on social media.

With Another Simple Favor ready to hit the big screen at SXSW and soon stream on Prime Video, fans of the first film are eager to see what twists and turns await the beloved characters.
