Paul Wall recently shared a funny and lighthearted story on The Breakfast Club about how he realized he was white, which caught many by surprise. Growing up in a diverse neighborhood where most of his friends were Black, Mexican, or Asian, Wall didn’t initially see himself through the lens of his race. He recalled how his friends pointed it out to him in elementary or middle school, saying, “You’re white. Why do you talk and act like that?” Wall was initially confused, asking, “What do you mean?”
The rapper explained that he was raised in a multicultural environment, with a community made up of people from various backgrounds, including Black, Mexican, Vietnamese, and Indian communities. This blend of cultures made for a unique upbringing. Wall humorously added that his mother once took a DNA test, which revealed she was three percent African, joking that this wasn’t enough for her to claim the right to say the N-word.
In addition to his hilarious story, Wall also touched on his music career, with his 15th solo album, Once Upon a Grind, featuring collaborations with artists like Slim Thug, Crys Wall, DJ Fresh, and Big K.R.I.T., among others.
