Pearl V Puri granted bail in rape case of minor girl

Pearl V Puri who was arrested on June 4th on the allegation of raping a five year old has been granted bail after a 14 day police remand custody.

Television actor Pearl V Puri has been granted bail today, June 15 after a 14 day long police remand. The actor was arrested on the allegation of having raped a 5 year old minor girl at a film set in Naigaon, Vasai.

The actor has been granted bail on the cash surety of 25,000 rupees by Aditi Kadam, sessions judge, Vasai.

His counsel Chetan Patil said, ” “We do not know on what grounds the bail has been granted to my client as we are awaiting the final order.”

The father of the victim will be appearing in the Bombay High Court to challenge the decision of the Vasai sessions court.  The reason for this appeal is that the police didn’t get a chance to completely investigate the matter.

The incident allegedly took place when the victim and her mother (also a TV actor) were at a film set in Vasai and Puri, under a pretext, played with the minor and allegedly sexually assaulted her, said the police. The minor’s mother was aware of the incident after the minor complained of pain in her abdomen and private parts.

Her father, who had co-starred with Puri, complained to the Versova police as Puri resides in Andheri, and as the incident took place in Vasai, the case was transferred to Waliv police.
