Peter Krause opens up about the shocking 9-1-1 Season 7 finale, Bobby’s near-death experience

The 9-1-1 Season 7 finale had fans on the edge of their seats, especially with its dramatic conclusion. Peter Krause, who portrays Bobby Nash, shared his thoughts on the intense ending, his character’s growth, and what’s in store for the future of the series.

The finale confirmed that Bobby survived the devastating fire at his and Athena’s home, though the house was completely destroyed. Reflecting on Bobby’s resilience, Krause told TV Insider, “There’s a continuing process of letting go of the past, but he has an incredible family around him.” This sense of family was particularly highlighted this season, with showrunner Tim Minear giving more depth to Bobby and Athena’s relationship. Krause described the season as “very important” for their journey together.

Bobby’s return to work, however, wasn’t without its complications. Upon his return, he discovered that Gerrard, the former captain known for creating a tough work environment, had taken over the 118. Krause likened Bobby’s realization to “stepping in some dog doo,” noting that Bobby had hoped to come back and seamlessly return to his position.

One of the season’s most poignant aspects was Bobby’s flashbacks to his childhood trauma, including his difficult relationship with his father. Krause said, “We hadn’t really taken a glimpse into Bobby’s past in that way,” and emphasized the importance of understanding the character’s backstory and inner struggles. He also praised John Brotherton for his portrayal of Bobby’s father, a flawed but complex figure.

The relationship between Bobby and Amir, played by Malcolm-Jamal Warner, was another highlight. Krause described Warner as one of the most generous actors he’s worked with and expressed interest in exploring more of their dynamic in future seasons.

With their home destroyed, fans are left wondering where Bobby and Athena will live in the next season. Krause teased that there’s been talk of them staying in a hotel or a small apartment at the start of the new season.

As for Bobby’s future professionally, Krause expressed a desire to see Bobby continue his work in Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). He also shared his enjoyment of the camaraderie and humor within the 118 team, particularly the light-hearted banter inside the fire engine. “It’s such a great cast,” he said, further reflecting on the strong team dynamic. Fans can look forward to more emotional moments and personal growth for Bobby in the upcoming season!
