Phil Foden has been named the Young Premier League Player of the Season

Phil Foden claimed the award for the Young Premier League 2020/21 Player of the Season

Phil Foden of Manchester City was nominated for the award along with the likes of City team-mate Dias, who was already nominated, as well as Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Illan Meslier, Marcus Rashford, Mason Mount, Declan Rice and Bukayo Saka.

The 21-year-old was involved in 14 Premier League goals in 17 starts and 11 substitute appearances across the campaign. He established himself as a key member of the City midfield following the departure of David Silva. Foden was also called up to the England national senior team for the European Championships.

Foden becomes the second recipient of the award, presented to the best player aged 23 or younger after Trent Alexander-Arnold of Liverpool won the prize last season.

Foden’s teammate Ruben Dias was also nominated for the Premier League Player of the Season award and managed to win it over the likes of Bruno Fernandes, Mohammed Salah and Harry Kane. Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola was also nominated for the Manager of the Season award and won the award beating Jurgen Klopp and Marcelo Bielsa.

Tottenham’s Erik Lamela won the Premier League Goal of the Season award for his spectacular Rabona in the North London derby even though he got sent off in the second half of the match.

Pep Guardiola’s side boasted the most goals scored (83) and the least goals conceded (32) across the season and produced an exceptional 15-match winning streak mid-season.
