Phone Pe beats Google Pay as the top Unified Payments Interface (UPI) application in December with 902.03 million transactions worth ₹1.82 lakh crore. Google Pay bags the second place with 854.49 million transactions worth ₹ 1.76 lakh crore, according to data by National Payments Corporation of India.
These two digital payment apps master over UPI app space, and rule over 78 percent of transaction volumes and by 86 percent by value of transactions. Google Pay has seen a transaction fall of 11 percent in December when compared to transaction volume in November.
Paytm Payments Bank app is in the third place with 256.36 million transactions in December worth ₹31,291.83 crore. And the new entrance to the UPI market WhatsApp processed transactions worth ₹29.72 crore in December.
