PM Modi addresses the Nation: Three new farm laws to be repealed

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi addressed the nation today at 9 am on the occasion of Parkash Purab of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji.

The PMO office tweeted today morning informing everyone that PM Modi will be addressing the nation today at 9 am. He started the address by wishing everyone a blessed Parkash Purab of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji.

Later he said, “I have closely seen sufferings of farmers in my five decades of civil life. Most farmers in India have small landholdings, which they safeguard for their families. 22 crore soil health cards were provided to farmers, which increased production. We took steps to boost MSP and made wholesale market transactions online.”

Speaking about the three new farm laws, he said, “The three new farm laws were made to further reform the farm sector. They were brought after talks with specialists from various domains. People from the country involved with farming greeted the new laws. Nonetheless, despite our best efforts, some farmers were not positive about the laws. We strived at all levels to take them into confidence. We were also ready to modify the sections that they had objections about.”

He further announced that the government has decided to abolish all three laws. He said, “We have decided to overrule the three farm laws. I request the farmers to call off their revolts and return home.”

He concluded by saying that the Constitutional procedure to revoke farm laws will begin soon.
