PM Narendra Modi consoles Mohammed Shami in dressing room after World Cup final loss

Mohammed Shami praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for visiting the team’s dressing room and lifting their spirits following their World Cup final loss to Australia.

India suffered a devastating defeat against Australia in the 2023 Cricket World Cup final, ending their incredible run in a tournament in which they had been unbeaten until that point.

The Indian team under Rohit Sharma’s captaincy had a fantastic run, winning ten straight games, including a semifinal win over New Zealand. However, their only defeat came at the most important match, their final match against an impressive Australian team.

Ravindra Jadeja stated after the game that Prime Minister Modi visited the Indian team’s dressing room. His appearance was meant to lift the spirits of the player following their devastating defeat. Despite the poor result, the Prime Minister’s gesture was seen as an effort to console the team and appreciate their hard-fought journey throughout the tournament.

Shami has now thanked the PM for visiting the team’s dressing room and lifting their spirits following their loss on Sunday.

“Unfortunately yesterday was not our day. I would like to thank all Indians for supporting our team and me throughout the tournament. Thankful to PM @narendramodi for specially coming to the dressing room and raising our spirits. We will bounce back!” said penned.
