Police complaint filed against makers of 72 Hoorain; Activist demands ban on release

A Mumbai-based social activist has filed a complaint against the makers of 72 Hoorain, alleging that they are hurting the religious sentiments of a community and are attempting to divide the country, an official shared on Wednesday.

As per the official, a complaint has been filed at the Goregaon police station in suburban Mumbai.

The activist has submitted a separate complaint to the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), demanding a ban on the release of the movie, revealed by his lawyer Ali Kashif Khan.

The movie is helmed by Sanjay Puran Singh and is scheduled to hit the theatres on July 7.

The police officials have said that they have received the complaint, but no FIR has been registered yet.

Earlier, the trailer of 72 Hoorain had been halted from release by the CBFC board, citing a few objections.
