Prime minister Narendra Modi hinted that the poll dates for Legislative Assembly Elections in Assam, West Bengal, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Puducherry might be announced in the first week of March.
“Since the schedule for the last assembly election in these states was announced on March 4 (in 2016), it seems the Election Commission will announce the polls in the first week of March,” Narendra Modi said in his third visit to Assam in a month.
“I will try to visit Assam, West Bengal, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Puducherry as many times as possible before the schedule is announced by EC. We can assume that the announcement could be made on March 7,” the PM added.
PM Modi might hold a rally in Kolkata’s Brigade Parade Ground early next month after which the poll schedule is likely to be announced.
The PM inaugurated Assam’s seventh engineering college in Dhemaji and laid the foundation for the construction of the eighth college in Guwahati.
