As conversations intensify ahead of the film’s February 27 release, the actor chose to respond in his own way by highlighting Kerala’s cultural harmony through its cuisine.
Taking to X on Sunday, Prakash Raj shared images of pork, beef and fish dishes alongside the traditional vegetarian sadya. In his caption, he wrote that the “real Kerala story” lies in how different food traditions coexist peacefully in the state. He urged people to “relish” this harmony, ending his post with a subtle hashtag and a Sunday greeting. His message was widely seen as a response to the controversy sparked by the film’s trailer.
Directed by Kamakhya Narain Singh and produced by Vipul Amrutlal Shah, The Kerala Story 2 has triggered polarising reactions since its promotional material was unveiled. A particular scene in the trailer, which shows a character being forcefully fed beef, has faced sharp criticism.
Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap earlier dismissed the film in strong terms, while Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan also issued a statement condemning what he described as attempts to misrepresent the state’s secular identity.
