Priscilla Presley recounts finding out about her then-husband Elvis Presley’s cheating in an unexpected way

Priscilla Presley got candid about discovering her then-husband, Elvis Presley’s infidelity—through fan mail sent to their house.

Speaking at MegaCon Orlando on February 7, she shared the difficulties of being married to one of the most famous musicians in the world, especially with the constant presence of other people in their lives.

“It was hard, you know, to get used to all the guys, not just Elvis but all the guys,” she said, per People magazine. “They were like this, and I love them all, but it was a man’s world, and I was really the only woman.”

Priscilla recalled how Elvis’s demanding schedule often kept him away. “He was gone a lot,” she admitted, adding that she had heard multiple stories about his alleged affairs.

Her worst fears were confirmed when she checked their mailbox at their Palm Springs home. As she sorted through letters, she came across messages from women thanking Elvis for inviting them over.

“A lot of it was like, ‘Oh Elvis, thank you for the invite. Charlie Hodge [Elvis’ best friend] asked me to come up, and I’m so glad you greeted me and my girlfriends,’” she recalled.

But then the letters became even more explicit. One read, “Elvis, I had the best night with you. Thank you so much.” That’s when reality hit. “Hello, it’s getting worse,” Priscilla remembered thinking.

Faced with undeniable proof of Elvis’s infidelity, she realized, “He’s living another life, and I just couldn’t take it. Every time he’d go to Vegas or even Palm Springs, it was… difficult.”

Despite their struggles, she emphasized that their marriage ended on a loving note. “Elvis was a popular, loving, and beautiful man, but I couldn’t take it,” she admitted. “That wasn’t a good life for me.”

For those unfamiliar, Priscilla and Elvis tied the knot in 1967 and officially divorced in 1973.
