PSG reach verbal agreement with Barcelona forward Ousmane Dembele; Report

Barcelona forward Ousmane Dembele has been linked to PSG for a few months and earlier this week, the Parisians moved to activate his €50 million (£43 million/$54 million) release clause. According to Fabrizio Romano, Dembele agreed to the deal and the transfer now appears to be close to completion.

The Parisians must act quickly to sort out the specifics. Dembele’s release clause increases to €100 million (£86 million/$108 million) on August 1. The contract of the France international expires in June 2024.

Dembélé joined Barcelona from Borussia Dortmund in 2017 in a €105 million transfer, although he has suffered injuries throughout his time at Camp Nou. In 185 games with Barcelona, he has scored 40 goals and won 3 La Liga titles.

This summer, PSG will most certainly need help up front. They have already lost Lionel Messi to Inter Miami and may lose Kylian Mbappe as well. The Ligue 1 winners are expected to add Dembele as their third forward signing of the transfer window, joining Marco Asensio and Lee Kang-In.

PSG will now work on the deal’s specific structure in order to complete it before the August 1 deadline.
