PSG sign Ousmane Dembele from Barcelona after agreeing €50m deal

Barcelona’s France forward Ousmane Dembele has signed a five-year contract with Ligue 1 champions Paris St Germain, both clubs confirmed on Saturday.

Barcelona finalized a deal with PSG for Dembele’s transfer for 50.4 million euros ($55.16 million).

Dembele, 26, extended his contract with the Spanish champions until June 2024 last year when his previous contract expired. In 6 years, he won 3 La Liga titles and 2 Spanish Cups.

Before joining Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund, Dembele began his playing career at French club Stade Rennais, making his debut in the 2015–16 season.

Dembele, one of the most talented young attacking players in the Bundesliga, moved from Borussia Dortmund to Barcelona in the summer of 2017. The Frenchman leaves Barcelona with 185 matches, 62 goals and won three league championships, two Copas del Reys and two Spanish Super Cups.

Due to his pace and playmaking, Dembele established himself as one of Barcelona’s most important players despite suffering major injuries early in his time there. He renewed his contract with Barcelona last summer and was set to stay until the end of the season.

His arrival at PSG comes amid reports that Neymar might be leaving the club. PSG’s new signings include Marco Asensio, Milan Skriniar, Lee Kang-in, Hugo Ekitike, Lucas Hernandez and Manuel Ugarte.
