In honour of Guru Tegh Bahadur’s Shaheedi Diwas, the ninth Sikh guru, the Delhi government has proclaimed November 25 to be a holiday. The 350th Shaheedi Diwas of Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib will be celebrated as a public holiday this year, according to a previous post made by Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on X. The day commemorates the Guru’s timeless teachings of bravery, compassion, and the freedom to practise one’s religion, according to Chief Minister Rekha Gupta.
The complete list of what will be open and closed on November 25 in Delhi is as follows:
- Delhi’s public and private schools will be closed. According to officials cited by PTI, the whole Delhi government would stay closed.
- The Reserve Bank of India’s regional holiday schedule states that all banks, both public and private, would be open on Tuesday.
- Government hospitals and emergency services will continue to operate.
- Buses, taxis, and the Delhi Metro will all run on time.
Guru Tegh Bahadur’s 350th martyrdom anniversary will be commemorated in a major three-day event at the Red Fort from November 23 to 25. The Delhi chief minister had earlier invited people from Delhi and beyond the nation to participate. She invited families to attend the three-day congregation, saying it was the capital’s “good fortune” to hold Guru Tegh Bahadur’s 350th martyrdom day celebrations at the Red Fort.
