Puducherry is set to commence its ‘vaccination festival’ from June 16

The Health Department of Puducherry government is set to commence on a four day ‘vaccination festival’ in the Union Territory. It will be held from June 16 and will continue for consecutive four days. The festival is to provide jabs to all those who are above 18 years of age as an effort to control the COVID-19 pandemic.

T Arun, Health Secretary of the Union Territory on Saturday in a statement revealed that Puducherry was witnessing a decline in the fresh cases in COVID-19. He further stated that the major reason behind this decrease in fresh cases is the intensive implementation of steps to combat the virus. T Arun also expressed about the sustained cooperation of the public by maintaining the safety protocols.

The statement released noted that there is an alarm about the third wave which is expected to set in the coming months, that it  would bring in cases of COVID-19 among the youth and later the young children may probably get infected. It clarified that the aim behind this festival is to make sure that the pandemic does not get more worse.

The ‘vaccination festival’ will be held in more than 100 centres. It will proceed in government hospitals, primary health centres and in the designated centres of the four regions of Puducherry, Karaikal, Mahe and Yanam.

T Arun appreciated the joint efforts by the Health Department in association with other departments, political leaders, leaders of public opinion, voluntary organizations, self help groups and other stakeholders. He further voiced that this efforts have established the ‘vaccination festival’.
