Punjab and Haryana HC lets Nodeep Kaur out on bail

The Punjab and Haryana High Court granted bail to activist Nodeep Kaur after the Haryana police arrested her on January 12.

Kaur is a labour rights activist who was showing solidarity to the farmers’ protest at the Singhu border in Delhi. The farmers have been protesting relentlessly against the three farm laws passed in September last year. The activist is a part of the Mazdoor Adhikar Sangathan. She accused the Haryana police of violence and sexual assault after her arrest in her bail plea. She also said the police falsely implicated her and targeted her because she was providing huge support to the farmers’ protest. The Haryana refused the allegations and said that she in extorted money from the industrialists in Sonipat’s Kundli.

They also said she incited the protests at Singhu Border that led to seven police officials being injured. Meena Harris, lawyer and niece of Kamala Harris, tweeted in support of Nodeep Kaur earlier.
