Putin insists African leader to sit post protocol breach; Russian president wins praise

A video of Russian President Vladimir Putin has been making rounds on the social media wherein he can be seen bursting into laughter and insisting Comoros President to keep sitting after the latter mistakenly sat before everyone else during an official meeting. The video has garnered in much praise for the Russian leader for her gesture towards Comoros President.

The 30-seconds video shows Putin welcoming African leaders into the conference hall. An official directs the leaders to their seats when Comoros president Azil Assoumani sits while others are standing beside and are confused. He soon realises that he has broke a protocol and stands up immediately. However, Putin bursts into laughter and insists him to sit. Later, Putin takes his seat too.

For those unaware, a two day Russia-Africa summit was held in St Petersburg on Thursday and Friday. Russia suffered a blow as less than half of the African leaders attended the Summit compared to 2019, when it was first held.

In the meeting, the leaders discussed the withdrawal of Russia from Black Sea Grain deal. Putin asserted that Russia is making all the efforts to avert global food crisis.
