PV Sindhu slips to world number 15 in BWF rankings

PV Sindhu, a two-time Olympic medalist, slipped three spots in the current BWF rankings, which were revealed on Tuesday. The top-ranked Indian shuttler is presently rated 15th in the world.

Since the start of the year, the former No. 2 has seen a significant drop in her ranking. She entered the 2023 season rated 7th in the world, but she dropped out of the top ten in April.

The former world champion reached a career-high ranking of No. 2 in April 2017. T

The 27-year-old, who won gold at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, has struggled with her form this season after returning from a long injury layoff.

Sindhu participated at the Malaysian Open and Indian Open this year but was eliminated in the first round of both tournaments.

Sindhu hasn’t made it past the 2nd round in any of the other 7 BWF World Tour events she’s played in this year, except the Madrid Masters where she reached the final and the Malaysia Masters, where she finished 4th.

HS Prannoy, who won his first BWF World Tour title in May at the Malaysia Masters, is India’s best male singles player and is ranked seventh in the world. Kidambi Srikanth, the former world number one, is presently placed 20th, just below Lakshya Sen.
