R Madhavan Teases a Bigger Role in Dhurandhar 2; Praises Director Aditya Dhar’s Vision

The buzz around Dhurandhar refuses to slow down. Less than a week after its theatrical release, Aditya Dhar’s spy thriller has already pushed audiences into sequel anticipation mode. With Ranveer Singh leading an ensemble cast featuring R Madhavan, Akshaye Khanna, Arjun Rampal, Sara Arjun and Sanjay Dutt, the film has become a strong box-office performer and a major conversation starter among moviegoers.

In a conversation with Bollywood Hungama, Madhavan, who plays Ajay Sanyal, the Director of the Intelligence Bureau opened up about his expanded role in the sequel. Calling Dhurandhar one of the “most important films” of his career, the actor shared that while his presence in the first film was brief, the next chapter will place his character at the heart of the narrative.

According to him, Dhurandhar 2 will explore how Ajay Sanyal trains Ranveer Singh’s character in the rigorous and shadowy world of espionage warfare, offering viewers a deeper look into their dynamic and the making of a spy.

Madhavan also reserved high praise for filmmaker Aditya Dhar. Describing him as “a monk,” he noted that Dhar remained calm even amid the chaos of crafting such an intense film. The actor expressed a strong desire to collaborate with him again, saying the experience has left a lasting impact.

Reflecting on his year, Madhavan called 2024 one of the most fulfilling chapters of his career, having started with Hisaab Barabar and closing with the success of Dhurandhar. He also shared gratitude for the opportunity to work with some of India’s finest directors across his journey, including Mani Ratnam, Kamal Haasan, Rajkumar Hirani, Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, Aanand L Rai and now Aditya Dhar.
