Rafe Spall and Natalie Portman come together for ‘The Days of Abandonment’

The movie will be directed by director Maggie Betts, who is best known for her previous work called Novitiate, who is also adapting the novel for the screen.

English actor Rafe Spall, who is known for his performance is movies like A Good Year, One Day, Anonymous, Prometheus, Life of Pi, The Big Short, The BFG, The Ritual, and Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, has joined the cast of the HBO movie ‘The Days of Abandonment along with  Israeli-born American actress Natalie Portman.

The movie, which is an adaptation of the 2005 best-selling novel of the same name written by Italian author Elena Ferrante, will follow the story of Tess, which will be played by Natalie Portman, who abandoned her dreams for a stable life, but whose world is turned upside down when her husband abandons her. According to reports, actor Spall will be playing the role of the husband named Oliver, who is married to Tess for 15 years and is a doting father to their young children, and is also a beloved college professor. The casting also suggests that the character of Oliver is an ideal husband who is also charming and attractive.

The movie will be helmed by director Maggie Betts, who is best known for her previous work called Novitiate, who is also adapting the novel for the screen. Betts will also be executive producing the movie along with actor Portman, Ferrante, Sophie Mas, Celine Rattray, Trudie Styler, Len Amato, Domenico Procacci, and Maria Zuckerman. The movie will be produced by HBO Films in association with Medusa Productions.
