Rahu Ketu, featuring Fukrey’s Pulkit Samrat and Varun Sharma in the key roles, saw a 25% increase on Tuesday. The increase was caused by lower ticket costs across many theater companies. The film, directed by Vipul Vig, grossed Rs. 55 lakh on its fifth day, bringing the total to Rs. 4.85 crore net at the Indian box office. Despite having an ambitious mythological idea, Rahu Ketu’s content and comedy failed to connect with the audience.
The film received middling word-of-mouth, which reflects in its lackluster day-to-day performance. Though the film had a stronger hold than its competing release, Happy Patel: Khatarnaak Jasoos, both films’ fates were set on their opening day.
Rahu Ketu is expected to earn between Rs. 7 crore and Rs. 9 crore during its run, as it faces a major competition from Border 2. The Pulkit Samrat film has no chance of competing with the Sunny Deol starrer, as Border 2 will take practically all of the screens, kicking every holdover release out of the theaters.
Rahu Ketu is about two humorous creatures born from writer Churu Lal’s magical notebook who embark on a journey to rescue it from the clever Meenu Taxi. Aside from Pulkit and Varun, the film also has Shalini Pandey, Chunky Panday, Piyush Mishra, Manu Rishi Chadha, Amit Sial, and Sumit Gulati in key parts.
