The Union government has informed the Rajya Sabha that Laxmi Organic’s chemical manufacturing facility in Ratnagiri is operating within permitted environmental standards.
In a written reply to questions raised by Congress MP Pramod Tiwari, Minister of State for Environment Kirti Vardhan Singh said the Maharashtra State Pollution Control Board has verified the plant’s compliance.
The minister noted that effluent treatment and air pollution control systems are fully functional and that hazardous waste is being managed and disposed of in accordance with statutory norms. Joint Vigilance Sample results dated November 4, 2025, were found to be within consented standards.
The response also stated that the plant at MIDC Lote Parshuram received environmental clearance from the State Environment Impact Assessment Authority, later transferred to Yellowstone Fine Chemicals Pvt Ltd, a subsidiary of Laxmi Organic Industries. Additional approval for production expansion was granted in 2025.
On the regulation of PFAS substances, the Centre clarified that India does not currently impose a specific ban, though certain PFAS-based chemicals fall under restricted or regulated categories and are under continuous review.
