Ever since Ranbir Kapoor unveiled his lifestyle brand ARKS, social media has been abuzz with theories about the meaning behind its name. Many fans speculated that it was inspired by his personal life, particularly his wife Alia Bhatt and daughter Raha Kapoor. Ranbir has now put an end to the rumours by directly addressing the question himself.
In a video shared on the official Instagram handle and YouTube page of ARKS, the actor is seen giving viewers a tour of the brand’s manufacturing facility while answering frequently asked questions. During the walkthrough, Ranbir revealed that the unit previously belonged to his brother-in-law, Bharat Sahni, offering a rare behind-the-scenes glimpse into the brand’s beginnings.
Speaking about how the name ARKS came into being, Ranbir explained that it evolved organically. Initially, the brand began as a sneaker project, envisioned as a “Ranbir Kapoor shoe”. Over time, the name took on multiple interpretations, including the idea of a Ranbir Kapoor studio. Eventually, he realised that the name did not need a fixed meaning. According to Ranbir, once the name and logo came together, everything felt right.
The 42-year-old also reflected on how his outlook has changed with age. He said his desire for material possessions has reduced, leading him to focus on timeless, functional clothing. Through ARKS, Ranbir aims to build a broader lifestyle brand, with future plans spanning athleisure, innerwear, and even furniture. He added that ARKS is ultimately about offering consumers a sensibility and aesthetic, rather than just products.
