Ranbir Kapoor has offered clarity on the much-anticipated sequel to Animal, shedding light on both its timeline and creative direction. While currently occupied with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love & War and Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana, the actor confirmed that Animal Park is still some time away from going on floors.
Speaking in an interview with Deadline Hollywood, Ranbir revealed that director Sandeep Reddy Vanga is presently focused on his next film, Spirit. As a result, Animal Park is expected to begin production in 2027. The actor acknowledged that the wait is long but assured fans that the scale and ambition of the project make it worth it.
Ranbir also shared insights into the evolving narrative of the Animal universe. According to him, Vanga is exploring the idea of expanding the story into three films, with Animal Park positioned as the second chapter. The discussions, he said, have been ongoing since the first film, with ideas constantly being exchanged on how to push the story further.
One of the most striking revelations was Ranbir’s confirmation that he will be seen playing two characters in Animal Park. He explained that the antagonist undergoes plastic surgery and begins to resemble the protagonist, creating a dual role that allows him to portray both sides of the conflict. Ranbir described the concept as creatively exciting and praised Vanga’s originality as a filmmaker.
Released in 2023, Animal starred Ranbir alongside Anil Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna and Triptii Dimri, with Bobby Deol as the antagonist. The film emerged as a major box office success, earning over ₹400 crore domestically.
