Two Mumbai lawyers have filed a complaint at the Ghatkopar police station against Bollywood star Ranbir Kapoor and his family members for allegedly hurting religious sentiments and disrespecting the “Sanatan Dharm” in a Christmas celebration video.
The complaint, which was filed by advocates Ashish Rai and Pankaj Mishra, is based on a viral video of Ranbir Kapoor, in which he is seen lighting a cake and saying “Jai Mata di” while someone pours wine on it.
Ranbir was seen with his immediate and extended family at Kunal Kapoor’s annual Christmas lunch.

After the complainant asked that the actor be booked under sections 295(A), 298, 500, and 34 of the Indian Penal Code, no First Information Report (FIR) was filed in the case yet.
As reported by PTI, Sanjay Tiwari, who filed the complaint at Ghatkopar police station through his lawyers Ashish Rai and Pankaj Mishra, stated in the video that the actor is seen pouring liquor on the cake and setting it on fire while saying “Jai Mata Di.” In Hinduism, fire god is invoked before invoking other deities, however, Ranbir and his family members allegedly used intoxicants while celebrating another religion’s festival and chanted “Jai Mata Di,” the complaint said. It was alleged that this hurt the complainant’s religious sentiments.
