Actor Ranbir Kapoor is embracing fatherhood with a perspective shaped by both legacy and personal reflection. Recently announced as the brand ambassador for PNG Jewellers, the actor used the occasion to speak candidly about his bond with daughter Raha and how he hopes to parent her differently from how he was raised.
Reflecting on his equation with his late father, Rishi Kapoor, Ranbir admitted there was a certain emotional distance between them. He described it as a “glass wall,” explaining that friendships between fathers and sons were uncommon in that generation. With Raha, however, he intends to change that dynamic. He said he wants to be her friend, encouraging her to explore life freely and choose her own direction.
Ranbir also addressed what it means to belong to the Kapoor family, one of Hindi cinema’s most celebrated dynasties. According to him, legacy alone cannot guarantee success. He emphasised the need for individuality, stating that merely repeating what previous generations achieved would eventually lead to stagnation. Carrying forward a legacy, he suggested, requires emotion, intention and a willingness to bring something new to the table.
Alia Bhatt recently echoed similar sentiments, sharing that Ranbir rushes home after shoots just to spend time with Raha. Though naturally reserved, she said, he openly expresses his affection for their daughter.
